Details
!GedText is an application for producing a text file report of all
information contained in a Gedcom (genealogy) file. It was written to
work particularly with Gedcom files output by !Family but should be OK
with any Gedcom data although it will not (yet?) interpret all possible
tags.
The changes to GedText since the previous released version are:
--------------------------------------------------------------
An option in the Choices window to output text with DDF styles. (This
was partly inspired by Stewart Brookes article in a recent Archive -
thanks Stewart.) The resulting file needs to be input to an Impression,
OvationPro, Easiwriter or Techwriter document with styles of "Notes" and
"Name" set up - these are then applied (not surprisingly!) to the Notes
and Name fields. I use this to set the name to bold and increase its
font size and also to set the line spacing between each note. If anyone
wants an OvationPro stylesheet already set up for this then please e-mail
me.
If birth date is in format dd/mm/yyyy, dd.mm.yyyy or dd mmm yyyy then
records are now sorted in order of month and day as well as year.
Added a count of males and females to the statistics report.
Now uses the hourglass to show progress through the file.
Now interprets the FAMI and PARE tags from earlier versions of Gedcom but
does not (yet?) follow the references.
Corrected a fault that did not output unknown level one tags that were
between the INDI and NAME tags.
